Variable Air Volume (VAV) Systems are one of the most commonly used HVAC systems. VAV systems use varying airflow to condition a space within a building. A typical VAV control strategy and how it is implemented, using four controllers in ApacheHVAC, is described in this session.

Birajan Bhandari is a Senior Building Performance Engineer at IES, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Birajan got his Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech.) in Electrical Engineering from Motilal Nehru National Institute of India, Allahabad (MNNIT) and has a Master’s degree (MS) in Energy Systems Engineering from San Francisco State University. Birajan is a LEED Green Associate. He provides training for energy modeling, energy standard, and code compliance.
